Professional, Certified Pet Urine & Odor Removal
The Specialists' Pet Urine Removal |
we found it had come back up the next month to mock us.
Until it is taken out by the root, beneath the surface of our lawn, it will continue to be an eyesore each time it resurfaces.
Pet urine is similar in this sense: cleaning the carpet fibers on top will do nothing to remove the urine contamination that is under the carpet, hidden within the carpet padding below. Our technique is effective because we treat the padding with enzymes to break down the urine. We then extract the bacteria, urine, and enzymes out of the padding, up through the carpet fiber and into our truck mounted carpet cleaning machine to completely remove it from your home. We then clean the carpets with all natural solutions in our 12 step process.
Our method is thorough and effective simply because we take care of it at the root of the problem.
Are you looking for lasting pet urine removal? Not a deodorizing cover up - but non-invasive subsurface extraction. Don't replace
carpets, our technique actually deters recurring offenses.
Our Pet Urine Removal process is the least invasive in removing pet urine from the source - the sub-padding. Cleaning alone will not remove pet urine from the padding. The spot will return and so will the occurrence.
The Specialists are IICRC Certified in Color Repair, Carpet Cleaning, Upholstery & Fabric Cleaning, Journeyman Textile Cleaner - Tile & Grout Cleaning, Odor Control, and Carpet Repair & Reinstallation, as well as Teflon Application Certification for Carpet Protection.
We provide truck mounted professional steam cleaning, the method recommended by carpet manufacturers.
The Specialists are approved by 3M Scotchguard to maintain the warranty of your new carpets.

When Should I Replace Rather Than Just Keeping My Carpet Clean?
We are more than happy to give you an audit on whether cleaning will ultimately determine whether your carpet needs to be replaced or if it can last a few more years. After your carpet is cleaned, look for the following signs that your carpet and padding needs to be replaced: worn or thin areas, and dirt and stains that cannot be removed. While you may be able to rearrange the furniture or use area rugs to cover some areas of concern, traffic pattern wear in hallways and walkpaths are difficult to disguise.
Aside obvious stains, there are other factors that will influence your decision to replace your carpeting.
Lifestyle: If you frequently entertain guests, a pristine carpet may be more important to you than if you have 3 small children and 2 dogs. Both the children and dogs are apt to drag dirt inside and create other messes, so you may be able to tolerate a few stains on your old carpet for another year or two before replacing it.
Budget: If you're like most people, this is a matter of priorities. If you have enough money to replace either your carpet or the hot water heater that is frequently on the fritz, you should probably go with the hot water heater. If money isn't an issue and you would like to freshen up your home with new carpet, there is no reason to wait.
Health Concerns: Allergens love to snuggle into your carpeting, so you may want to replace your carpeting more often if you or members of your family suffer from allergies.
Timing: If you're planning to move in the near future, you may want to hold off on new carpeting unless the appearance is so bad that it will affect the sale of your home. Since many buyers may have their own preference on type of flooring, another option is to offer a flooring allowance that will give buyers the ability to make their own choice.
If you do decide to replace your carpeting, please feel free to call us as we can personally recommend a flooring specialist in your area.

ABC 20/20 Report - Signs of a Bait & Switch Carpet Cleaning Company
There should be no differentiation between a “normal” cleaning job and “special” cleaning job. Cleaning is cleaning. Diligent effort must be made to remove as much soil as possible from the carpet. And technicians must take steps to leave fibers as residue-free as possible to prevent accelerated resoiling.
Do not expect an exact price quote over the phone.
Honest, reputable carpetCarpet cleaning is usually priced by the square foot; if you’d like to know the exact cost, you need to know the exact number of square feet you want cleaned. To get an accurate measurement, cleaners should use a measuring wheel or tape measure to calculate the exact size of the carpet area.
cleaning companies almost never price carpet cleaning by the
room.
Other variables affect the price as well:
•The type of carpet. Some are harder to clean than others.
•The amount of soiling. Carpet that hasn’t been cleaned for 10 years will take longer to clean than carpet that was cleaned within the past six months.
•The amount of furniture that must be moved. In many cases, if you move your furniture, you’ll save money.
This information is brought to you by our friends at ABC News and 20/20. (Click for full report.)
The Specialists Carpet Cleaning Company charges by the cleanable square foot. Your cleaning estimate is based on exactly what you want cleaned, and you're not charged for cleaning under items not cleaned under (i.e. the Master Bed).
Spots are never an extra charge.

what is the manufacturer's suggested carpet cleaning method with commercial carpet?
When choosing the cleaning system, the important considerations are:
- It must clean effectively
- It must not damage the texture of the carpet
- It must not leave excessive residues of cleaning materials.
The preferred methods, and of course, it depends upon your carpet blend and type, are hot water extraction and low moisture extraction.
The Hot Water Extraction method using high performance equipment should be the primary scheduled method to clean carpets. Necessary interim cleaning systems are successful when used to supplement the extraction program. These interim cleaning processes help enhance the carpet’s appearance between deep cleanings.
Low moisture encapsulation systems are also interim cleaning processes that enable the carpet’s appearance to be improved and returned to service in a short amount of time. The cleaning agent is agitated into the carpet’s pile with a mechanical brush, allowed to dry and vacuumed to remove the encapsulated soil from the carpet. In conjunction with scheduled Hot Water Extraction cleanings, the low moisture systems can help maintain a satisfactory appearance.
As for the frequency of cleaning:
- Light traffic (private cubicles as mentioned earlier) once annually.
- Medium traffic (halls, conference rooms) every 6 months.
- Heavy Traffic (entrances, elevators, main hallways, break rooms, work/copy rooms & mailrooms) every 3 months.
- Severe Traffic (airports & entries to hospitals, malls & theaters *extra heavy traffic & soiling require frequent attention) Monthly.
The goal is to clean carpets (whether commercial or residential) before it begins to appear worn and discolored. Soil breaks down fibers and weakens them for use, which is why we so frequently wash our clothing articles: to maintain their appearance.
Should you have any further questions, or wonder what your carpet cleaning company should use in the way of cleaning materials, feel free to ask! The Specialists Carpet Cleaning Company uses all natural cleansers that pass the stringent specifications and safety requirements for hospitals and the White House itself.

What Type of Vacuum Cleaner Should I Buy?
Is it a Dyson? An Oreck?
The answer might surprise you...
It lies in the options and features of the vacuum, in relation to the type of carpet you have in your home. Confused? Let us help.
It is best to find a vacuum with a beater bar. A beater bar is located under the vacuum and 'beats' the carpet as the vacuum rolls over soiled areas. This beating and vibration shakes the heavier sands in your carpet up high enough that your vacuum can suck them up. These heavier sands are part of the cause of the traffic lanes in your home, generally coming in from the front door or garage or off the kitchen into the living room, anywhere you step from hard surface to carpet.
A beater bar is wonderful, however, is not created for all carpet types. Just like fabrics, different carpet fibers have different characteristics. If you have berber, or a looped carpet, you need to avoid a vacuum with a beater bar - this can catch a loop and cause a snag or run in your carpets. We most often think of Olefin as a berber, but berber is the looped sytle of a carpet. Olefin ("ohl-uh-fin") is actually a plastic, made essentially from the same materials as your common Coke bottle. Notice when you crumble or smash a Coke bottle, it is impossible to restore it to its previous state? The same characteristic you'll find in Olefin carpets. If you're someone that likes to rearrange your furniture, Olefin is not for you. The divots and indentations from furniture placement will always be easily identifiable. However, if done right, Olefin cleans and brightens so nicely with regular professional carpet cleaning.
Mistakes to avoid when setting up your vacuum:
Our own thoughts dictate that "if high is good, low is better" when it comes to adjusting the heighth of our vacuum setting. The "Bare Floor" setting should not be used on carpet. It doesn't clean any better, it will actually burn up the motor. It also does not allow the brushes that send the dirt flying into the suction hose the space to rotate effectively.
The key to a good and thorough vacuuming is to vacuum 2-3 times per week, per manufacture's warranty and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as setting the proper height adjustments for your flooring.
Some tips:
It always seems as though cords are too short and you're trying to just get that last inch of carpet vacuumed without having to stop, turn off, unplug and find a new outlet. I heard a tip last week: add an extension cord. How simple is that? I had always just taken my vacuums into a sewing and vacuum specialty shop and had a commercial length cord put on. Either way works, and I'm sure you already thought of that!

Dry Steam Cleaning...is it Chem Dry or Truck Mounted?
It is truck mounted steam cleaning that dries in 2 hours or less!
We are so excited about the world's newest cleaning technology - the Rotary Jetless Dri-Master. This superior hot water extraction tool (steam cleaning at 230 degrees of heat) has a 3-jet system which simultaneously flushes and removes deeply embedded soils while the rotating head cleans all sides of the carpet fibers.
The traditional wand cleaning method expels water in a downward fashion, the technician then goes over the area with dry strokes to remove the moisture.
With our new Dri-Master, having the vacuum and water run
simultaneously allows for the removal of 85% more moisture and soils, leaving a cleaner carpet that dries fluffier in only 1-2 hours.
Now that's something to be excited about!

Carpet Cleaning Scams - EXPOSED! Avoid Bait and Switch!
Beware of Bait and Switch Carpet Cleaners!
You know the type – they “bait” you with a low price, then “switch” you to their “dual scrub” or “deep clean” system. They proceed to soak your carpet and leave a soapy residue behind, causing your carpets to get dirtier quicker. Good luck getting them back again!
“This is Bubba. The world’s most notorious carpet cleaner!”
Beware of low priced carpet cleaning. If their price is truly low, you should be concerned about their quality. How can you pay technicians a decent wage and have the best products and equipment at the lowest price? You can’t.
Some companies advertise a low price, then charge you more when they get there. Be clear about what is included and what is not. In this ad, the fine print says “we recommend our dual scrub method for all heavily soiled carpet”. How many carpets are heavily soiled? All of them! Even if you held them to the “34.95”, you would get a very poor cleaning.
Here are some questions to ask every carpet cleaner about their cleaning…
1. What method do you use? Dry Cleaning or Steam Cleaning, more info on methods.
2. Do you vacuum the carpet (to remove 70% of the dry soil)?
3. Do you pre-treat spots (to heighten their capacity of maximum removal)?
4. Do you pre-spray the carpet (to break down the soil before cleaning)?
5. Do you pre-groom the carpet (To agitate carpets and evenly distribute the pre-spray for maximum removal)?
6. Do you neutralize the carpet (to maintain the manufacture's warranty)?
7. Do you post-groom the carpet (to help it dry and fluff it up)?
8. Do you use air movers to speed dry the carpet (to dry the carpets quickly)?
9. Is spot cleaning included in the price?
10. Is heavy traffic lane cleaning included in the price?
11. Do you give a free bottle of spot remover (for at home use)?
12. Do you give a free pair of booties (so I can walk on the carpet right away)?
Questions to ask about their company…
1. Do you have recent references?
2. How long have you been in business?
3. Are you certified by the IICRC?
4. Do you offer a 100% money back guarantee?
5. Do you have an on-time guarantee?
6. Do you use sub-contractors or employees?
7. Do you have liability insurance?
8. Do you have a re-soiling guarantee?
A low priced carpet cleaning company simply cannot provide the most advanced, guaranteed cleaning technology at a low, low price. Something has to be cut from the picture. The Specialists obviously offer all of these benefits and more.

Under Cover Investigation on Leading Carpet Cleaners
Reveals Poor Service and Inadequate Cleaning Systems
The Specialists hired a consulting firm to “mystery shop” our three biggest competitors to confirm the real differences between our service and others. The findings not only confirmed the hard earned leadership position that we have, but also raised some real concerns about these supposedly expert companies.
Three companies were chosen because of the brand recognition associated with them. These three companies would also be considered our biggest “competitors”. Even though we feel that we don’t have any competition, and we maintain a leadership and educational position that no other carpet cleaning company in the city enjoys, we wanted to see things from your perspective. We wanted to see how things looked through the eyes of the client. So we paid a consulting firm to book one carpet cleaning job from each of the companies.
The findings shocked even us!
The first company that was called not only had horrible telephone manners, but sent out the rudest, unprofessional, uninformed crew you could imagine. They never said thank you and acted like they were being bothered the whole time they were there (which was a total of 37 minutes!). This crew did not pre -vacuum the carpet, didn’t pre-spot it, or even groom it. Even though the spots were not satisfactorily removed they remained unconcerned and unwilling to try harder.
Their one-step method doesn’t even come close to meeting minimum IICRC Standards. Due to the fact that they just brushed over the carpet with the cleaning tool, the soils returned before the day was even over! At the end of the job, our consultant was required to sign a lengthy document. They would not state a reasonable guarantee (the company had stressed their guarantee to secure the job over the telephone). There was no respect, no apology was made for their attitude and not even a little "thank you". Not even a smile the entire time proved that a customer is just another bother in their day. How sad.
The second company at first sounded more promising than the first.
Their telephone courtesies were somewhat better, but not anywhere near what they should be. The problem with this company was that they gave us a 2pm-5pm arrival window. At 1 o’clock our consultant called to check on the arrival time. “Toward the latter” he was told. At 4:10pm, he called again “the crew is still at their previous job. They should be about an hour.” At 5:10, still no crew. Another call revealed that they were still at the previous job. When pressed the operator said “Well, their previous job went from 2 rooms to 2 houses” “Oh, so you took on more work on your previous job and bumped me huh?” our consultant replied. “Let me get the operations manager” The ‘operations manager’ said “It’s only 5:10!” insinuating that they weren’t actually late. They couldn’t give a specific arrival time, so our consultant cancelled this job. If a company doesn’t care enough to communicate with the client, turn down extra work, and/or offer alternate arrangements for their clients, they don’t deserve the work, no matter how good they might be. If you’re not there, you can’t very well do a good job now can you?
The third company was better than the first two, but lacked what it takes to be considered a “top” company.
Booking the job was about as average as the other two. Incorrect information, and ignorance ran throughout this experience. This company gave a 2 hour window. They called the day before to confirm which was good. The morning of the appointment, they called to confirm the arrival time. Good. When the technician arrived, he was very nice. That was not enough to get them more than a C Average due to the inexperience of the young man that came.
He didn’t know anything about the carpet although he claimed to have been around carpet for a long time. He thought the carpet was wool by looking at it (it was nylon). This technician pre-vacuumed the carpet, and pre-sprayed the traffic area, and rinsed. Upon completion, he requested a signature beside several cleaning steps that were not provided. When pressed, the CONSULTANT was fed the old excuse "I don't have it on the truck."
Both companies that came out had carpet cleaning steps on their work order that they were unwilling to do. One was grooming the carpet. In both cases, it was on the ticket (put their by their operational system to make sure they do it). Both blew it off as unimportant.
Obviously any company has their bad days, or days when employees just don’t want to perform. The scary part about these three companies is that they are the most recognized brands in our industry and these inadequacies and poor attitudes were obviously routine.
The Specialists are passionate about raising the standard of our industry. We commit to providing you with the most outstanding service experience ever. Guaranteed or your money back!

How to Remove Pet Urine from Carpet
Use ONLY a recommended pet spotter, (Nature's Miracle is one we recommend, available at your local pet speciality store) or a vinegar and water solution (½ white vinegar and ½ water solution).
The reason? Urine turns “alkaline” from being exposed to the air within a short time after the “accident”.
A recommended pet spotter or a white vinegar solution is slightly “acidic”, therefore neutralizing the urine salts.
*Get your carpet professionally cleaned as soon after a pet spot as POSSIBLE!
Even after doing a great job cleaning the spot, urine salts can still be left behind which will discolor your textile and collect odor causing bacteria.
